Lets Get Started

Hi guys. I don't know if anyone will ever actually read this, but I figured that I would start a blog as kind of a self help to myself. My name is Alicia (or screw the "A" and call me Leesha) and I just moved to a new city with my boyfriend Jesse about two weeks ago. 
This is a self help because for the past thirteen years I have been struggling with my weight. Around the age of ten, when mother nature decided to hit me with the puberty stick and my metabolism slowed way down. And the fact that around that time my family moved from Germany to Kentucky (my dad was in the army) where the weather is very different. I never wanted to go outside during the summer because of the humidity. So with those factors, I started to gain weight. I was always about twenty pounds bigger than my friends and my weight never seriously bugged me until recently.
Last year I moved back into my parents house after 3 years of living on my own, because I wanted to save up some money and I wasn't really happy with my life at that time. So i quite my job at UPS, where I was constantly moving around and lifting boxes, and moved back home and got a job at Cardinal Health Customer Service, where I was sitting for eight hours in front of a computer answering phones. I only worked here for about seven months, but in that seven months I gained about twenty-five pounds. Not cool.
This past weekend, my friends and I went to New Orleans for a birthday and had a blast, until Monday when photos were posted and I did not like that way I looked. I felt like I looked like a beached whale. 
So this prompted me to get on a healthy track. I'm going to try to lose weight without joining a gym or join some kind of Weight Watchers type deal. The plan is to get started this weekend, after I do all kinds of research and what not, and I'll be posting all my progress on here. This years goal - lose thirty to forty pounds. We'll just have to see how everything goes. Wish me luck!
